Need some questions answered first. What is more important, a dirty starting to corrode Token or a restored and clean one? Does it make a value difference or can you damaged the round. This one must be made of tin and nickel 'cause it sounds like a fender washer when dropped on a marble surface but is starting the corrosion creep heading toward the text which is stamped incluse. Wanna save it if I can........
here's a lame picture...cover the kids eyes....never seen one of these b4. And let me know if I can get away with a soap and water cleaning
The correct process for cleaning your token depends on what metal it is made of. You can look here. If you want to preserve your token, some research will pay off. http://www.metaldetectingworld.com/cleaning_preservation_coin.shtml
Acetone to removeany water trapped in the corrosion, and then store in a very dry environment. The corrosion reaction requires water to proceed. No water the corrosion stops. As mentioned not really any value for the piece as it is a modern fantasy. There is no such thing as a contemporary US brothel token that offered anything other than drinks are the bar/saloon associated with it. (There are some French ones that do)
