Hey guys, I'm interested in a coin on eBay.

Not sure how to read the listing price/bid:

    $199.00+ $4.95 Shipping
    0 bids | Ends in
    Est. Delivery Wed, Mar 10

So, is $199.00 a Buy it Now price?

It has 0 bids and 1 day left.

    Thanks in advance!

It's a starting bid with a make an offer option...

So whatever the highest bid is wins, even at $1?

No - 199.00 is the opening bid to get the auction started...and if someone makes that bid the best offer option ends.

There is no "buy it now" button, so it is simply a coin where the minimum bid is $199, OR you can make an offer less than that and they will tell you if it is accepted or not. But if you bid the $199, you are locked into paying that price unless you are outbid.

Hmm, it's a nice popular coin, and $199 would be a fair price. Surprised at no bids.

    Okay, that makes sense.

Probably started the minimum too high. If you look at the last couple that have sold... $140, $163, $183. Granted, this may be a better quality piece, and you have no way of knowing what others 'may' have offered, but there are others at around $199 on the 'bay as well, so no rush to commit.

If you're happy at $199, offer $180 and see if they take it, because with only a day left, they may be relisting it at a slightly lower price anyway in a day or so...

I'm not. It's not certified and the photos are too poor to determine condition and authenticity (purposely poor, perhaps?).

The basement slab it's in certainly isn't doing it any favors

I wondered why they didn't show the slab. I would crack it out anyway.

It's not a TPG slab, so no reason to not take it out to get better photos . . . unless the seller wants inexperienced buyers to think it's a certified coin.

There's a lot about this posting that would scare me away.

When "Make an offer" appears in a listing, it generally means the seller is willing to consider selling the item for less than the opening bid price. Therefore, I would offer a fair price and not a low-ball one which will probably be ignored. 10% to 15% less than the min. bid seems reasonable to me if you think $199 is a decent price.

What else is a red flag that you see?

    Hence my $180 suggestion.

Missed the slab issue. @Mkm5 I would contact seller and ask for full photos of slab before making an offer.

There's no reason to, the slab on that one is worthless.
