Need some coin crud education - Green stuff?

    By all means do so. But understand this, Verdi-Care will not prevent further damage, it merely removes the green stuff. Only YOU can prevent further damage by utilizing proper storage.

    Also understand that it isn't the green stuff that is causing the damage. The green stuff is simply the result of the damage that has already been done by corrosion. Put another way, the green stuff is what copper turns into after copper corrodes.

    The torch was apparently replaced in 1986 during a refurbishment, and the replacement is covered in gold leaf...

    I put some 200 year old Italian copper coins in Xylene and I left them in a covered glass container. I left them in there for over a month and they sure changed colors.
