    It was probably buffed --

    too clean (surfaces, fields, etc) to be natural with all that wear

    Yes, it's a scan, not a pic. My scanner is a dinosaur! I'll try to take real pictures and upload them on here in the next few days. Thanks everyone for your answers!

    Thanks for all the replies. Here is a couple of cell phone pics of the same coin. Oh, I finally got the seller to admit to me that the coin had been dipped.
