Trying to help out a fellow coin club member ID this coin. The closest I can find is a Charles VI jeton circa 1380-1422. http://www.yorkcoins.com/h5211_-_fr...PnpCS_g4bWGSeUQEIi2ueDuowpNGpb3nYyD8TtYh2ZTBI I am sure the cross and crown is French, but can't find anything closer. Any help would be appreciated.
The Mitchiner reference only lists one jeton for Charles VI, and it has his portrait on one side. Can you read the inscription on the side with the crown? I can't. Chris
Sorry Chris, It's not my coin and this is the only photo I have. I did find another similar coin at MA shops. https://www.ma-shops.com/saenn/item...cXvCMujZa9bL3v2Wrjuy6KiZLntiI1moU8zjuIS4z_E3c Neither are an exact match, but both were similar. I can't find any reference or resource. I recall that you have a copy of Mitchiner's book on jetons, so you might be the only resource I have.
I looked at the jetons listed in both links, and I just can't decipher the legend. A lot of times, the legend is useful because the Mitchiner reference provides Indexes for 1) Persons, 2) Corporate Bodies, 3) Places, 4) Designs, 5) Technical and 6) Inscriptions. Chris
