I haven't read all of the posts here but have seen some good advice. First for me is a budget. I spend what I can afford. It does take restraint. Buy better, more expensive coins. Sounds silly but works for me. I buy far fewer coins than I used to but I buy bigger dollar coins now (on my scale). I rarely spend under $100 for a coin these days and it's usually more in the $300-500 range. I actually get more satisfaction. I'n not adding a bunch of clutter and getting much tougher pieces. Always have a backup plan. Things beyond our control happen as just did to me. Wife was out of work for 8 months (certainly not anticipated) then boom need a new dryer and car repairs. I'm not going to be late on any of my bills because of this or ring up a huge credit card debt. Going to have to let a few things go. Nothing major thankfully but I am letting some nice currency that I pulled out of circulation go at face value. I must note that another member contacted me about buying it when I mentioned that I would spend it. He did not do this for a "great deal". He did this because I was in a pinch and we'd rather see it in the hands of a collector than in circulation. A nice gesture and I'm sure many others in the community would agree. Finally you could seek "professional" help or chatting with someone who's "been there". The bottom line is you have to do what's best for you. I'd hate to see you leave the hobby but you have look out for #1. Best of luck! clembo
