hey there guys i am new here and to the countermark world :) i was buying coins at an antique shop and this on just caught my eyes because of the name stamped on it and i thought it must be special. After alot of research i found out it is called a counterstamp which led me to your website and was hoping you guys can help me :) the initials
"W. L. Dodge" is stamped and i was wondering who it belonged to and if it is as important as i think it is?

It says in the new BRINK counter stamp book that W L Dodge was a merchant operating near Jackson, NJ during the early 1910's and counter stamped many Morgan's

I think that is engraved rather than stamped. I looked in a counterstamp reference book anyway and found Wm. A. Dodge but no W.L. Dodge. It will most likely remain a mystery but still interesting and fun.

Immediately proven wrong. Yeah, that feels like a Monday.
