It is a 1997 - 1 Rouble from Russia - "ϹПМД" Monogram Mint Mark - St. Petersburg Mint. It'd be worth maybe a dollar if it were Uncirculated, but in its current grade, it is a relatively worthless coin, unless you are in Russia. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/russia-rouble-y-604-1997-2001-cuid-1087579-duid-1525821
Our prices: 0,5 kg of bread - 20 roubles (about 32 USA cents). 1 litre of petrol - 37 roubles (about 62 cents). 1 kg of banana - from 85 to 97 roubles (1,5 USA dollar). One ticket to ride on a bus in my hometown - 18 roubles (from one side of town to another side of town - about 15 km) - about 30 cents. One bottle of "Coca-Cola" 0,5 litre - 42-45 roubles (about 70-75 USA cents). One Big Mac in "McDonald's"- about 220 roubles (about 3,8 USA dollars). NB! As for me I prefer "KFC"
Yes. It was about 35 years ago. Can you tell me about prices in your hometown? It is very interesting for me.
What I find interesting is that this eagle (no crown, no imperial insignia) was and still is the logo of the central bank (CBR). So in the years when the coins merely said "БАНК РОССИИ", as in this case, it made sense to use that logo. Nowadays the 1 ruble and higher denomination coins refer to both the CBR and the Russian Federation (РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ), and thus the eagle is that of the country, not the bank so to say. (Now why countries that are not monarchies insist on having a crown as part of the coat of arms, I don't know. In Romania this was done just two years ago. Sure, their Steel Crown is a symbol of Romanian sovereignty, but still ...) Christian
0,5 kg of bread - No idea - my wife makes all our bread. 1 litre of petrol - About $2.60 a gallon, about 70 cents a liter 1 kg of banana - About 60 cents a pound, $1.32 a kilo One ticket to ride on a bus in my hometown - there are no buses where I live One bottle of "Coca-Cola" 0,5 litre - no idea, I don't drink soda One Big Mac in "McDonald's"- no idea, I haven't eaten fast food in over 25 years.
Where I live in Canada... 0.65 kg bread - $1.79 1 litre of gas (ie: petrol) - ~$1.21 (today) 1 kg of banana - $1.25 One ticket to ride bus (in nearest city) - $2.50 (small local bus service where I live costs $2.00 and must be pre-arranged for taxi-like pickup and delivery) One bottle of Coca-Cola, 0.5 litre - price is different in different stores, some sell for just $1.00, in other stores maybe as much as $3.00 One Big Mac - ~$4.00 (I guess, because I see it on menu in MacDonalds but have not bought one for many years... I much prefer Harvey's and A&W for hamburgers) All above prices are in Canadian dollars.
Russia considers itself the successor of Byzantium. At us monarchic traditions are strong. I also am the convinced monarchist. I would prefer that in Russia there was autocratic monarchy. I am not a supporter of constitutional monarchy.
Thanks for interesting information my friends. And this is our new eagle. Coin: 10 roubles (about 16 cents of USA).
Thanks for the info @Siberian Man Can you tell me anything about this coin. I can’t find much information about it.
