Thank you! I may have been giving the wrong impression in my earlier posts, but I spend all of my weekend working on my collection. I have a little problem though, because a while back, I kept all of my coins in albums, but I decided I wanted to "upgrade" and go with putting all of my early coins in 2by2s but, I just have a box of coins in 2 by 2 s now and I don't have the little binder pages to put them in, and I don't have any money to buy them, so yeah. If anyone has any leftover binder pages for these, my mom said I can ask. I am not saying I want to get them from you, I just saying it would be nice if you offered. I can give out address and name for that. again. no obligation!
I also never recieved an allowance from my folks, but I had lots of things I wanted that my parents were not about to spring for. So I worked when I could, now my parents expected me to do some things free, but some things I could get paid for. I had to mow our lawn, but after I finished I could use the lawnmower and mow other peoples lawns for money. I had to do an old neighbor lady, who only paid me a dime, my mom made me do hers, but I would go out pushing the mower and if I found a house that looked like its lawn needed mowing I would knock on the door and ask if they wanted the lawn mowed and negotiate a price. It is important to ask first and also to agree on a price, when I first wanted to make money my mom just told me to take the mower and mow someones lawn that needed it and then knock on the door and say, Hi Mister, I mowed your lawn how much will you give me. So I went to one house on the corner with a big yard, it took me over an hour to do it, when I finished I knocked on the door and said Hey Mister, I mowed your lawn how much will you give me. The guy said, I did not ask you to mow my lawn, I am not giving you anything. Believe you me, if you show adults you are willing to work, you will always have money to buy things that you like.
It means you should ask chip(posted in post #48) if he can help! Hehe....I have a very small vocbulary for a dime!
Mostly every one here is correct. Try looking at some of these coins there little keys coins that can be bought for cheap any Indian head in the 70's like 73, 74 , 79, the 09 vdb is good. Pick up a 45 Micro s Merc. the 49 s Roossie. Poorman 55 double die Cent. 26 s Merc. You can buy a nice Large cent on the bay for around 10 or so. I buy 6 dollar ones all the time but you have to sit around to pick those up. The early franklins are good to pick up. also the 55 Bugsbunny franklin is cool. you can buy low grade barber dimes cheap too. Good luck
My first piece of advise is to try and NOT be too eager. First time beginning collectors tend to make mistakes early. Try to make those mistakes CHEAPLY. Second, is to roll search. As a kid, I would roll search ONE penny roll at a time. Get that? One roll at a time. Lastly, GOOD LUCK! It's a great hobby. Find some friends to talk to and ask specific questions. Feel free to PM me! I'll help out any way I can.
