Hello all, would like some help with this medal. I understand that it is 1 of a set of 6 that is called the ( "MAGNIFICENT SIX".) They were made to commemorate great coin designers such as, St. Gaudens, Morgan, and others. This one is commemorating Christian Gobfecht, 76mm, approximately 7 oz .999 silver, has a serial number on the edge, made in the early 60's ??? I purchased this one on EBAY for around $200 W/O box, have seen a couple of the others for $400-$500, with 1 seller asking for a whopping $10K for the complete set. They seem to be hard to come by, and I can see why, simply Beautiful, lots of detail, and huge. Would be hard to let go. I am seeking help with authenticity, value, rarity, and condition. Please excuse the photos, they were taken with my kindle HDX. That's all I have to use at the moment, ( better than my cheap cell phone.) My first ask for help post, please let me know where improvements are needed. ( I already know I need better photos.) Thanks in advance. John.
Nice one there. Can't say as to authenticity, but you can compare to this pic. Here's alittle history I dug up on it http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v13n27a15.html
