(Standards indicates they were standard dollars not gold or trade dollars) Probably during the period of the dollar melting of the Pitman Act.&nbsp; Most of the melting was done at Philadelphia, New York or San Francisco.&nbsp; new Orleans had seased operating as a Mint in 1909 and in 1918 it was just used for storage and as an assay office.&nbsp; They would not have had the facilities for melting down coins there.</p><p><br /></p><p>There are some details on the lead seal but I can&#039;t make them out.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
