    Oooops, I posted the wrong photo & it's too late to edit. I had intended to depict a Greece 1 or 2 drachma which has the sea-horse.
    Here is a sea-lion depicted on the reverse of this 1944 Philippine 5 centavos coin. Does this qualify as a monster?

    Hey, I found another Pegasus. From the Stack's mixed lot. The coin envelope said "Corinth" but it appears to be an AE23 from Bruttium.

    Not the clearest depiction, but Athena's helmet is decorated with a griffin on this Velia, Lucania didrachm. I love love love this coin :)
