It was a demo for a fundraiser - Bowl Plaza Bathroom Tourist Attraction (I was involved in the early stages of the Bowl Plaza project). After the pumpkin carving, a light was placed inside and plugged in. It looked pretty cool in the dark. Basically, any community oriented art project in our rural community of Lucas is part of my hobby. I participate in a lot of them - often as a leader and sometimes from behind the scenes by creating prototypes. My life long passion has been art. I like a variety of media. My favorite was probably etching on plates, and litho on lime stone. Drawing is #2. Painting and quilting are probably #3 favorite. I have over 40 quilts in process now. 15 of them are being worked on a regular basis. I also like to collect art. My main focus is Grassroots Art from Kansas artists (art by untrained artist and often done with recycled materials). My favorite art work in my collection is a sculpted bubblegum selfportrait by a Lawrence, KS artist made into a necklace. I also purchase fine art from local artists on occasion (within a 100 mile radius of me). I try to add one new piece a year. There is alot of creativity in Kansas, as well as coin collectors. The state of Kansas happens to be Third in having the greatest number of registered Grassroots Art Environments (Outsider Art). I put in a fair amount of volunteer time toward the preservation and education about grassroots art sites.
Nice bike. My husband still has his 1949 OHV PanHead HD. It is on display at a HD shop so more folks can enjoy it. My hubby can't ride anymore (stroke).
That was one very large pumpkin patch. Never saw one that large. Was it a commercial pumpkin farm? Nice pics - all of them.
Don't speak too soon... 2010 Boys State (I was elected one of 5 Supreme Court Justices, pale dude on the far right): And goofing off with friends while speedcubing (Those are all my friend's cubes... he is addicted...)
Boise State? Man they're awesome in football this year. What's that? Boys State? OOPs, never mind..... Just joshin' dear fellow. So, sights set on a judgeship I see.....
Thank you ! Sorry to hear of your husband's stroke. I've had a couple of family members succomb to stroke. It is a terrible thing.
I am out of this one. They wouldn't let me take pics inside the Casino Sports Book. In fact Security asked me to leave when they saw my camera. Go figure ?
I believe it's been 5-6 years since Boise State lost a game ? Awesome this year and Every year it seems. I have been screaming around the Sport's Book that hey should get a chance to play for #1. Who knows just how good these guys are until they get beat ? Judgeships are great ! But wouldn't it be a nice 2nd career after being a pro Field Goal Kicker ? lol Kidding, of course. It does seem or education system has a greater focus on athletic rather than mental poweress.
That's why I got Uncle Sam to pay for my lessons. Of course, I owed him a few years of my life in return!
No matter who wins the contest this turned out to be a pretty good thread. Lot's of interesting people here!
