Mystery Japanese coin - ID needed please....

    Hi everyone.
    I'd be grateful if anyone can ID this coin and tell me what the characters and symbols on it mean. I believe this coin may be pre-Meiji Japanese and probably 19th century? It's made of silver, weighs 3.66g and its outside diameter measures about 23/32" (18mm).
