My wife just returned from a trip to New Orleans, and she actually went into a coin shop... and brought me back a gift! It's a solid upgrade for my 7070 once I figure out the Newcomb variety.

Alas, my very quick Google search netted me a result right back to here (on CT) and someone mentioning the need for a book. And apparently this year has some extremely small variations which might not be easily discovered by a mere picture. I did notice that some letters in "liberty" appeared to have doubling, specifically the L and E. Anyone here well-versed in Newcomb varieties that might want to take a stab at it? :) 20250121_174819.jpg 20250121_174906.jpg 20250121_174949.jpg

Dude, I think you got hold of a Mint State coin! If not MS, that is at least AU-58. It is beautiful either way.

Thanks, and yeah I was absolutely shocked that she went into a coin shop. 5 generation, 120 year running history. Also sells antique weapons and jewelry, I think. But lots and lots of coins there according to my wife.

Just wanted to add a couple updated pictures from the scope. This truly is a beautiful coin I was gifted, and yes, my wife is awesome! I'm assuming this is a LDS coin because the lines below the hair are gone. But the nearby 13th star is certainly affected as it is missing one of the points.
