Twiggs,Ron Wise also has a world banknote website, which has the Pick numbers of most notes, plus photos of a large number of them. Aidan.
LOL would have been quite happy to tell yo what they all were :smile I do like the Rice coupons quite a bit, there has just been a big exhibition of them in china & I wish I could have gone to see them :kewl:
I like hunting, it's the best way to learn but what are the 3 I couldnt find..100, 250, (taiwan?) and the pinkish one?
Makes me almost want to collect banknotes. Then I realize my budget. Maybe one day I 'll get my hands on a few more.
True, I do have a few. US $2, Canadian $1 and $2 all from circulation. Got an Iraqi 25 Dinar with Saddam on it (as a gift), and a handful of older banknotes someone once sent me, all of which are no longer valid currency. (China 1930's, Hong Kong 1 cent, Argentina 5 Pesos). Total of about 15-20 notes. I just look at these people buying $100 bills with cool serial numbers and then I realize that my wallet never has $100 bills in it to begin with! LOL I guess, for me, almost all of my coins have come from circulation, or have been traded with coins from circulation. (With a few exceptions). I guess that way, I feel like it's more of an accomplishment, as that way they weren't "bought". I save my big purchases for my other collection: musical instruments. That's where I've spent some serious money, but then again, I've also gotten some instruments for far less than their actual value. (Not like I'd part with any of them!)
Chris, you're the first person I have heard that collects musical instruments.Do you wish that you could own a Stradivarius? As for 1c. banknotes,Zimbabwe & Malaya are the only other 2 countries that I know of,apart from Hong Kong, that have had a 1c. note. Aidan.
I collect mostly wind instruments, but I do have some fretted instruments as well, particularly since I'm also a bass player. I do own one Stradavarious. (A Bach Stradavarious trumpet. Seriously, that's the model). I own: Brass: 6-8 trombones (lol, yeah, I can't rememeber how many!), 2 tubas, 2 cornets, 2 trumpets, a french horn, a mellophone, a euphonium, a helicon, and and ophicliede Woodwind: English horn, Eb clarinet, Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, 8-key Irish flute, 1 key wooden piccolo, soprano, alto and sopranino recorders (plastic, no wooden ones yet), alto sax, baritone sax, ocarina, pan flute. Strings: 5-string electric bass, 4 string acoustic bass, acoustic-electric guitar, ukulele, "taterbug" or "bowl-back" mandolin. And a number of other smaller things, mostly hand-held percussion and ethnic instruments from around the world. Looking to put together a nice set of wooden recorders next, and trying to get a banjo-uke cheaply.
