There is much talk of course of discrimination coming from the state, but I recall watching on a documentary that the population of Iran today generally sees Zoroastrianism as part of their heritage and do not feel hostile towards it. In fact, I have met Iranians in London and they were a lot closer culturally to Europe than one would think. Many people, especially in the US, tend to put them in the same basket with Arabic nations which couldn't be more far from reality.
