Most sane people wouldn't even consider this as part of a type set. Way to go!!!!!:woot:

A man after my own heart! Nice Collection!! That 1907HR is my collection favorite, but even in AU condition can be quite pricey. I believe a relatively inexpensive properly graded coin as in this link (selected from all current eBay offerings, including CACed, as the best) would be a nice ending:

    Also this "direct purchase":

Like I said WAY back when I started posting my type set, the gold set is based on the NGC short Registry Set for US gold business strikes (new issues starting no earlier than 1834).

    Nice looking fake/counterfeit.
What put me on to that was the lack of the letters PCGS as part of the front of the slab on the lower right.
And of course the price is a clue too.
Add a zero to the price and it would still be WAY too low for an MS-65.

For a 1924-P? Numismedia says $1800 and falling?

You may be correct, but I believe the experienced "old-timers" on this site will know this seller as a reliable dealer. I've purchased many of my GEM condition double eagles that received a "bean" from them. I hope you're mistaken, but then again I've been had by some very prominent "dealers". I'm fallible also!

Are there other opinions concerning authenticity?

Not sure what you are talking about, it's real, and actually overpriced. Priced higher than price guide, and priced higher than other MS65's on ebay. The lighting makes the PCGS stamp hard to see.

If it's there then, of course, I have to retract my comment.

    Great coins, thanks for posting.

I didn't realize that if you drop into the low-50's that the price for a 1907 High Relief falls to about $7,500, give-or-take. I had always thought that I would have to go to AU-58 (about $15,000) and of course the mint state coins can cost $30,000 and up which is way beyond my price range.

Might consider getting an AU-53 or AU-55 HR next year at FUN depending on my circumstances.

I really see the wear on that 1907 HR on Liberty's left knee and the top of the Eagles left wing.

    It's very pronounced, thanks !

Do you have one ? Any plans to get one ?

I'm hoping my job situation and other stuff allows me to save enough to take a shot at getting one at FUN 2021.

Kanga, did you add any new Double Eagles since you created this thread ?
