    The Normans conquered Sicily/ S. Italy between 990-1040AD. Territories were seized thru a prolonged series of battles with the Fatimids and the Byzantines. William II "the Good" would rule till his death in 1189.In 1194 Heinrich VI of Hohenstaufen would push the Normans out of Italy and establish a German Dynasty:):):):):):)

    The Axumite Empire comprised what is today Ethiopia/ Eritrea/ Somalia/ Oman/ Yemen....all dangerous places today for travel:dead:

    Thank you so much for all those beautifull comments:) As you can see from my posts, I like a lot of stuff/even (dare should I say it....machine made coins or as we call them, "milled coinage") However, very few "modern" coins interest me. The fine artistry we see in Ancient Joe's magnificent collection, is sadly lacking in today's, boring, blah, mass produced "collectors" mint sets/ proof coinage. The ancient world produced some of the finest coinage, that will be a testament, that will stand the passage of time.
