Stunning coins, all of them! As in museum quality. I agree with your top two choices -- the Sphinx of Chios is mesmerizing and the tet of Ptolemy I is stunning in its artistry!
Great coins, It shows that you aim at quality. Even though I don't really collect Greek coins, I find the Syracuse coinage very attractive (as of course do many other collectors). I guess if I had to pick, i'd pick that one as favorite.
Absolutely gorgeous top 7 @Di Nomos !!! WOW I don't collect Greek coins at the moment, but its not hard to see that you have excellent taste. I find it very difficult to pick a favourite from this selection, but it would have to be either 1, 2 or 3.
I'm very glad to see my former Terina stater alongside so many great pieces. My favorites are your #1 and #5, types I've wanted but where I haven't quite found the right coins (although I don't understand why your Chios didn't sell at NAC with a reasonable estimate compared to its previous sale at Nomos). Congratulations on a great year!
Appreciate that. I looked at the Chios Tetradrachm before the auction, but figured it would sell over estimate, seeing it sold for more previously as you said, so set my sights on the Ptolemy coin. As it turned out, the amounts were kind of reversed of where I thought they would be. So all worked out in the end. The Syracuse coin was a rare chance to acquire such a coin locally, so had to go for it. Appreciate all the kind comments from everyone.
What a fantastic group of coins. Great year @Di Nomos ! My favorites are the Chios and Syracuse tetradrachms.
Those are some exceptional coins. Every one if them has its merits be it rarity, style or preservation. I like Terina and Ptolemy the most.
