I know this is a little late for a year in review, but it wasn't until yesterday that I finally had the time to go through my coins and review all that I purchased. 2018 was a really good year for me. I got 54 coins, with the majority being medieval English and Seleucid silver. That said, it was a very eclectic year as I picked up Roman, Islamic, World, and ancient Chinese coins too. The only criteria I used to populate this list was the level of satisfaction I derived from adding the coin to my collection.

10 - Henry III VLC Halfpenny from Carlisle

Carlisle is the rarest mint for Henry III. 9 - Seleukos I Nikator tetradrachm. Its not rare or significant, just a really pretty coin. Sometimes that is all that matters. 8 - Edward III Series D Groat Series D groats of Edward III are common, but this one is uncommonly attractive. 7 - Edward III Demi Esterlin These demi Esterlin are a numismatic mystery, stylistically unique, and rare. That makes it top 10 material. 6 - Antiochos II Theos tetradrachm Laodikea ad Mare is an uncommon Seleucid mint and rare for Antiochos II. The obverse is really pleasing too. 5 - Antiochos II Theos tetradrachm I'm a sucker for a pretty face, especially when it is Seleucid silver. 1 - Edward III Calais Groat After years of searching I finally got an Edward III groat from Calais. These groats are both rare and historically significant.
