I like early copper:), and specially those of the years 1793 to 1814.

I cannot say that I particularly 'wildly' prefer any particular type out of the various types minted between these years, i.e 1793 Chains, 1793 Wreaths, 1793 to 1796 Liberty Caps, 1796 to 1807 Draped Busts, or the 1808 to 1814 Classic Heads. I like them all.

However, I have to admit that the cents of 1794 do have a 'special something' to them, something difficult to define. Perhaps the way the busts were cut, the aesthetics of the bust which have a special 'warmth' to it, or something else. So much so, that within the early American Copper collecting community a group of collectors collect nothing more than the cents of 1794.

I have managed to build a small group of 94's within my early copper collection, unfortunately too few, but firmly intend to continue with this endeavour. As I said, there is something special to them. Here are some of my examples:

Please post any '94's you may have!

Eduard, 1794’s are my favorites of the large cents. Great examples and good luck adding to your collection.

Man Eduard, you certainly have a fine taste in coins. That last piece that shows original luster just knocks my socks off. You are correct about the appeal a 1794 cent has. The second I saw this one I had to have it. I don’t think @C-B-D had it listed for sale a full day when I saw and snagged her.

Nice coins. I once saw a set of these coins in Mint state at a Vegas coin show. It literally took my breath away. It was a pleasure I will never forget.

    Very nice coins, beautiful!

I have a 1794 from a large cent album I got from my grandfather, I haven't attempted to do any attribution on it. Its just about worn slick, but I think its pretty cool, definitely one of my favorites!

Yes, the rim shows dents, but there's luster on both sides. Outstanding.

Thank you all for your comments and for posting your little treasures from 1794:).
They are really nice, all of them.

Here are a few more from my collection:

    S-41 with surface issues:
    1794 cent S-41 OBV1 N good picture - 1.jpg 1794 cent S-41 REV1 N - 1.jpg

A lower grade example but with nice surfaces:
    1794 cent S-72 2nd lower grade example OBV1 N better - 1.jpg 1794 cent S-72 2nd lower grade example REV1 N better - 1.jpg

    Low grade and damaged examples
    2 1794 cents OBV - 1.jpg 2 1794 cents REV - 1.jpg

Generally, there is a lot of collector demand for 1794 coppers so prices tend to be high, even for lowe grade and impaired examples. Patience and a measure of luck are needed, but they are out there, and it is very rewarding when yo do find them.

What are the markers that identified the very last one?
Is there a 4 visible on the obverse?

Yours looks to be the fallen 4 (or more accurately high 9) variety, which I believe is only on S-63. (A cursory google search suggests that this obverse was only used to strike S-63.)

Your 1794 cent is a Sheldon-63, the "fallen 4" variety, though I prefer to call it the "Hiccouph 9". If you like US large cents, check out EACS.ORG .

I have loved US large cents for over 60 years. I once had a run of 63 1794's, but the only one I still have is the one pictured here -- a Sheldon 30.

That is a nice one. By chance, are you the EAC #7 John Wright that wrote the 1816-1839 Cent Book? I assume that there could be multiple John Wrights involved with EAC, but I wondered if you were THE John Wright.
