this morning i found a 1982 d 1DO-002, and i just found a 1960 p cameo proof. guys on lincoln cent said it hasnt been listed yet. i had this on ebay as just a cameo proof. so glad i gave it a good look.
"Dual Die"...two different Obverse dies used on the same coin? I see a little shift on the date, but it looks a bit flat to me (md?). I'm not a modern Lincoln cent guy...don't go by me.
Definitely doesn't look like a doubled die. What you have shown shows mostly shelf doubling. Here's a true doubled die. Notice the split serifs.
Now that clear pictures have been shown, I can see it is a doubled die. I guess I was looking at the machine doubling on the opposite side.
Agreed...the "2" appears to show DD in that pic. However, if I'm gonna pay a premium for a doubled die coin, I want it to look like this...:thumb:
It's Shelflike, it's machine doubling. Check out the link, it's a flyer from Coneca describing and showing the different doubling types. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
Hey Yak, how about like this? http://www.thecoinnection.com/member/shared/myCoin.php?a=142&c=img4f5d0b98dcdf3.jpg
i didnt title the post "is this a ddo?". i have already had it authenticated by some people that know a thing or two about lincolns.
Looking again I see you're right. The MD is just more noticeable. For others, look at the lower left of the 2, and the downstroke of the 9. There may be more areas I'm missing, but those are the 2 I noticed.
