    @Lehigh96

    I actually went with 2 MS65's on this auction. The reason being I did not like the MS66's that were being auctioned. Even the green beans. The two 65's I got have a good chance for a green bean but I don't know if it would be worth sending it off considering I have already paid $104 per coin. I like what you said about 67. Pricing could get up there but a 67 1881S might be worth it.

    I don't like how the seller is handling the coin...

    I agree with much of the sentiment on this thread. Be patient. For '80-'82 S in the grades you are looking to buy, there are countless coins available. Take your time.

    OK, let me know your thoughts on this one. I won this at HA on Wednesday. There is another at auction for the same year and mint mark Sunday that I will bid on if the consensus is bad.

    Doesn't the cheek and fields have a lot of marks for an MS-65?

    This looked better than a lot of 66's believe it or not. I was surprised in that auction.

    I would say no. Compare it to the MS 65 and MS 64 here:

    (you'll have to scroll back as it links to MS 66 and above)

    Thanks, when I get it in hand I will see if it is CAC worthy. I want to know what the true luster is like. I know it is an inexpensive coin to send to CAC but it's not about the price for me now. I just want to complete the 1879S-1882S quest!

    I've looked at pictures of this coin from my phone, large screen on work computer, and regular laptop computer. It looks good from all but the big screen. I think if you look at a coin long enough with high magnification your opinion of the coin will go down. I actually think it is a green bean.

    As I have said many times, Morgan’s are not my strength

    That may have been why I was able to get it at such a reasonable price. It arrived yesterday in an Air-Tite holder... looks great for $26.
