Yeah, he was a Johnny-come-lately to the series in 2020. Instead of just issuing another one, the mint figured they could capitalize by making it reverse proof, putting it in a fancy package with 2 other coins and a stamp and charge $120 for it. Never pass up the opportunity to make a buck.
It is quite a let down for me the mint would make these originally in proof, but quits as a deceased former president becomes eligable (George Bush). There is a reverse proof in some set, but come on. This reverse proof is too costly for what it is and the set it would go in. Just my opinion.
Wow, just think, in about 200 years your heirs might have something there. If they survive metal deterioration that is! Good luck.
Hopefully they will discontinue the series after the Bush Boys, leave a gap, print one more and STOP. Phil
I think they’ll do Carter, and Bush Jr, but then there’s Clinton and Obama they may get them as well.
I think that terrible. Those sales people are creeps. Bet someone got a fat raise for that cut throat idea.
You nailed it. They got us twice on those president dollar coins. I had to buy rolls from the mint to finish my grandkids sets. That’s when I started collecting coins for the kids. Cash my check and grab a roll of president coins. Then got screwed. Had to. Bought the books. 13 of them
Yeah but they were for young children to collect. Who doesn’t want a set of all the presidents. What about if they did them in half for circulation
Well the good news is you can still get Bush BU rolls for the regular price. And I agree it's a neat set for kids.
Yeah, good point, I think so. I was getting them at the bank for the kids until they got old enough to go themselves.
Yeah but the president dollars got me into collecting The mint killed my new collector experience. When they shut them from the bank.
