... Glad to hear it all worked out! You had me scared there for a second... You made me think I led you to buy a bunk item ! The setup on mine was much different then you explain yours to be. All that was required for me to start using it was to double click the icon, which appeared after a few minutes of it being installed through the USB, then going to "My Computer" and clicking the "USB Microscope" icon within the folder. No worry, I'm responsible for what I buy. Is yours a XP PC or Windows7? What may have caused some of the problems for me was letting Windows choose the driver then after that diidn't work installing two different drivers on top of the one selected by Win7. I'll not be using it much because I collect medals which are usually larger than an 1" in diameter and foreign currency.

For thirty bucks I pleased with it and think it's a great deal.

Yeah I've tried both versions of the installation drivers for the MAC and still no go. The software loads up fine but it doesn't seem to recognize the camera is there. If any of you guys have any luck on a MAC please let us know. If I can get it working I'll post what I had to do.

 

I cannot get it to work on a Vista 64 bit machine. After plugging it to the USB port it downloads drivers and states that it is ready to function. However you can't find it except by using the start menu and clicking on "all programs" and finding "MicroCapture". Unfortunately clicking MicroCapture doesn't do anything. It can be found as a device under Imaging Devices but I can't find a way to get it to run.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

still waiting for the postman, but I have xp vista and 7/64 bit all running on different machines so I should be able to figure it out.

 

No go on 64, wista worked through installshield/disc only.

 

So, being technologically stupid, I may need help with this guys. I plugged the USB in, computer said device was installed. I checked My Computer...nothing. No icons installed, no program popped up. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your patience through my technological ignorance.

Use the disc, click on drivers, let installshield do the rest. I scanned my disc first & found nothing malicious.

Did it contain a hardware bug?

 

In the interim, I use my Canon 570 digital and use the macro setting witout a flash to take my coin pix. Combine that with MS Office Picture Manager (for cropping) you can even see a real small crack. I'm thinking of one of those microscope digitals, but until the cash is available.....!

 

I'm running with Windows XP . Glad to hear you're enjoying the item. I hope everyone figures out how to make it compatable with their computers to be able to start using it... Sorry, I wish I could help all of you out with the installation process but, sadly, I am not tech savvy.

I'm tickled that it works! just have to rig up a more practical mount, holding the coins/camera in my hand isn't much better than my point & shoot, LOL.

 

I failed to mention that I removed the clear plastic lens cap resulting in clearer pictures.

 

Great to hear! When mine arrived, I had to find an alternate source for the mount. I originally used the stand it came with, but it ended up that it was to short to capture a photo of the entire coin. What I did, and I found that this worked very well, is I stacked two "$25 Pennies" boxes on top of one another and sort of taped the stand to the box so it wouldn't fall over (I learned from experience... It fell twice ).
