My new Sister

    A new Ebay win showed up yesterday, i had my Coin club meeting last night and was busy cooking, so trying to get caught up. i bought 4 new coins last night, my ancient guy has been in all over Europe for the last 4 months for Boeing and had a pile of new coins with him.
    But today you get my new Sister..:)

    Julia Mamaea.226 AD.
    Ae, Sestertius.
    Obv. diademed and draped bust right.
    Rev. Vesta standing left, holding palladium and scepter.
    S -C across fields.
    Nice big chunk 27x30mm x 21.01g.
    $28 del.

    I have a few Julia's of the Severan variety---and I KNOW Doug does LOL------not to mention a few other of the 'ladies-man' types in our group....Yeah Mat, I'm referring to you among others:p

    To start: Julia Maesa and Julia Domna (Julia Mamaea is on bid right now)...and a few others I'll 'Look' for;

    Nice coin, John! Wish I had sestertius of Julia Mamaea myself. eBay can be great if you're patient and careful. I've acquired many fine coins way below retail prices.

    dang ENG, 21 g...what a fatty! i love a "big boned" coin!

    i don't have her and i recently posted a julia d in one of mats thread...but i have a denarius of her mom as well.

    Mamaea has very often neat and artistic portraits IMO, much more than others

    Here are a sestertius I've had for a long time and sold when I eventually found an exquisite second one (unfortunately, none of them is a 28$ purchase Eng) :
