That's the difference between a bullion collector and a currency collector...:secret: You might take some time to take a deeper look into currency as well, because you might be surprised to discover some notes out there are numismatically worth quite a bit more than their face denomination, capable of buying you a significant amount of bullion. So handing these little nuggets of paper art and history in to the Fed to simply destroy, would be like throwing away good money that you could have flipped to another collector and instead marched right down to your bullion outlet to buy the yellow metal you covet. :thumb:
And.. the US is no longer on a Gold backed system...to have done what you suggest it would have had to be done toward or during the end of the Gold standard system the note was once backed by. The Fed's will give you $50 for it... RB
