it means that instead of grading a coin the TPG either sends it back in a plastic baggy with an explanation why they couldn't grade it or they slab it without a proper grade for the same reasons. Ruben
Nice coin! Well - my personal opinion is the coin was dipped, but did not get all the dirt off the coin. I would not say "cleaned" harshly in my opinion. The only problem with ebay is that the pictures are not usually good enough for you to see what the coin really looks like. Also in my opinion you can get some really nice cleaned morgans - they only way I can tell they have been cleaned is by the slight color difference in the correct light. So you really need to know your morgans, pictures and dealers to buy off ebay. Still it can be cheaper than dealers in some cases.
So dipped means that it has been cleaned? This is the second coin I bought that has been "diagnosed" as dipped!!! Makes me wonder how many others I bought are the same: http://www.mofrad.net/mymorgans/ I am seriously thinking of selling off everything not slabbed, and then collecting only MS60 or better. In the lesser grades I guess it's hard to find untouched coins. I also need to do some serious reading before I buy anything else.
cleaned usually refers to harshly cleaned. Almost all Morgans have been dipped at some point because that was the crazy in the 1930's Ruben
