A recent purchase from Andy Singer at the Vienna, VA coin show which was surprisingly heavy with ancients dealers. Couldn’t resist picking up a unique Julius Caesar denarius.

    Julius Caesar RSC 13 denarius

Julius Caesar Denarius. 46-45 BC, Spanish mint. Diademed head of Venus right, Cupid on her shoulder / CAESAR below Gallia & Gaulish captive seated beneath trophy of Gallic arms. Syd 1014, Crawford 468/1.

Feel free to post anything related.

Trying to work out the kinks with a new photo hosting site so I don’t know if this will post the pictures or just have links. I’ll take advice on 3rd party hosting too. Thanks

Congrats on the new Caesar. I've been wanting a non-portrait Caesar myself. Enjoy your new coin.

A portrait denarius is high on my list but I haven’t found the right one at the right price yet.

Awesomeness! The double strike causes it to say Caesar twice!!! Very cool coin.
Here's mine with Venus on the obverese:
    Julius Caesar
Denarius fouree, Africa, 47-46 BCE. AR 2.8 g. 18mm, Diademed head of Venus r. Rev. CAESAR Aeneas running l., carrying his father Anchises on his l. shoulder, holding palladium on his outstretched r. hand. This coin represents Caesar’s war coinage for the protracted campaign against the Pompians in Africa culminating in the battle of Thapsus.Cr. 458/1. Syd. 1013.

    That's a great double strike.

laureate head of Julius Caesar right

    L BVCA
Venus seated right holding Victory on extended right hand, transverse scepter in left

    Struck Feb - Mar 14th, 44 BC.

    RCV 1410, RSC 24.

Venus seated' only appears on this one type of Caesar's 'lifetime' issues, on the remainder she is standing.

Lucius Aemilius Buca was a distant relative of the dictator Sulla. This coin was struck within a month of Caesar's murder.

@H8_modern - that is a great coin... love that "Caesar" was part of the double strike. I do not own any JC coins but I do think yours is one of the more interesting I have seen.
