That is bar far one of the best creations by DC. I didn't join that other forum until about a year after Gary passed away but I would assume he was a stand up guy the way others wrote of him.
That is bull dingy. It isn't counterfeiting. That argument does not play, and we have had it a thousand times on this site. Call it what you will, but it is not counterfeiting, as no attempt to deceive or falsify any coin is being made.
All right. Gloves are off I guess so let the personal attacks, incorrect assumptions and petty BS begin
No gloves here. Just attempting to clarify an incorrect assumption--what Daniel Carr is doing is NOT counterfeiting. He's creating fantasy coins that never existed, using the planchets from preexisting old American coins. Anybody ever hear of or have seen a 1965D Peace Dollar? I don't think so, as it is a fantasy. So, the issuance of a fantasy coin, with no intent to deceive is not counterfeiting. We have already established, through endless debate here, that there is no intent to defraud, deceive, or swindle any collector. The disclaimer that the tokens are not US legal tender, and not US government issuance is rather clear on his website.
Can we just start a thread for the battle about Daniel Carr's work? That way the threads about new purchases won't get clogged with it. Every. Time.
I know. I created the thread in the Coin Chat section. I will remain diligent in referring folks to it. [emoji6]
This humble narrator decided long ago to keep his thoughts on this topic to himself. Cowardly, perhaps, but more peaceful for sure.
Usually, you're right.... but from people on both sides of the isle. Remember the toilet seat tirade? Hell, I've had it implied that I must have racist motivations for not liking the copies because I haven't taken issue with white hobos defacing an Indian depicted on nickels. BS is BS. Someone popping into just to post "counterfeit" for the 50th time, just to stir the pot, is night and day different from someone sincerely expressing their opinion. Again, this is still, to the best of my knowledge, a discussion forum, so unless Peter or the mods decide Carr's copies are somehow deserving of a free pass, differing views should be excepted and respected for what they are. Fans certainly seem to expect that their views be respected, and I don't see anyone asking that they refrain from sharing them. Being critical of something so questionable isn't unreasonable. Some of the same people who dislike posts critical of Carr's copies haven't the slightest problem being critical of others on different subjects in different threads. It works both ways.
What exactly is so questionable about it? That doesn't register that the aforementioned work is " so questionable." If we are going to have to discuss both sides of this issue every time, at least explain why Daniel Carr's work is so allegedly " verboten?"
Being so certain of the evil of something so "questionable" is unreasonable. If it's so "questionable," why/how are you so sure?
Sorry Cascade !!! It really is a shame that you can't just simply show your new purchases and get a good feeling about what you spent your real money on . It will never happen on this forum regarding Dan Carr's creations. You did okay on your secondary market purchases . They graded MS69's , so both were obviously High Grade versions . Enjoy them my friend I tried to reason with some of the anti Carr group on here and there is no reasoning . I've since moved on as its not worth getting aggravated over something that you personally enjoy . I'll keep collecting them and enjoy my niche piece of the numismatic world Fast Eddie is the only one of the gang that's missing . Lol Have fun guys and Happy New Year ! Signing out, BP
I'm waiting for a MCMVIII High Relief-Wire Edge Saint Gaudens. I'll find an idiot to pay me $20K for the coin.
"Daniel Carr's work isn't Daniel Carr's work?" Whose work is it? There is no such issuance of a 1965D Peace Dollar by the US Mint?
