Well, to satisfy all the speculation, interested parties, and naysayers alike, I will also post the sale prices once they're sold. My plan is to auction a set of 3 and auction another set as individual lots (for those who only want the reverse proof). Then based on those results I'll decide whether to use buy-it-now or more auctions on the 3 remaining sets.
Just for reference, between the purchase, shipping fees, grading fees etc for these 15 coins, I'm already into them $47 per coin.
I hate to burst your bubble, but from the first 5 sets I received this morning, you will be lucky to get any 70s on the dimes. Check my post about the quality. This is why I am not sending mine in for grading as I have another 5 due to arrive later today UPS. I really hope you score big on the grades but from what I have seen of mine, the quality is just not there. Maybe for the big dealers that get their butts kissed by the TPGs, but the little guys will get the not so hot grades I fear.
I hear what you're saying. But, over the last 20 years , any U.S. coin with 100k or less mintage has done very well.
That was an epic crash indeed. Wonder if the fool that paid $100,000 for the "first one graded" by PCGS still has himself convinced that he's smarter than everyone else?
How much you have to pay priority mail for deliver to the NGC?. Maybe $15.00 or higher. Then add this amount to $659.70 that TopcatCoin calculated earlier. And the time and effort to bring that box to post office. Then if you want to sell it at eBay. Another fee of around 20% from eBay. Plus delivery cost to the buyer. How much left you got?. And we even do not know if it will come out as a perfect coin. If it does not. You lost all the fees plus time and effort. I would rather keep the raw coins with complete box and c.o.a. And enjoy this wonderful hobby.
And I already said above, with ALL of my costs, I'm into each coin $47. My ebay and Paypal fees and shipping costs when I sell add up to 10%. So I break even if each coin sells for $51.70.
Ok, an eBay listing of 100 sets. WT. http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-sets-20...269?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a23fccbd
The person bought those ten bosses even did not check if those sealed boxes are already on hand. if some of them are backordered. Those coins can not be graded as first strike and so forth. For me. I will pass it.
I feel like the mega dealers don't get special treatment at all. Frankly I don't think the graders give a crap who sends in the order. The higher ups might know them, but the (relatively) lowly graders aren't going to risk their jobs or reputations on trying to give favorable grades. ANACS dabbled in that decades ago, and the fallout lingers on.
Having worked in the accounting/audit field, I haven't seen a system yet that could be abused, that wasn't.
Is it a requirement now that to be a member of CT you have to be a conspiracy theorist? I just don't think these days that this happens.
