This is probably my lowest mintage Canadian coin, 1936 George V 50 cent, mintage 38,550. I just bought it to hopefully peddle at a profit. I do collect the Canada and provinces large cents, and have a nearly complete set.
An Upper Canada Bank Token! I think they are cool looking too. Here is the one you can see in my avatar.
How did these bank tokens work? These were minted before Canada became an independent country, right? Who decided how many to mint?
Goggle it man, there surely is a story about all those Canada bank tokens. I have a bunch of them too. Some are from the Maritime Provinces, some say upper or lower Canada. I think they were all minted and used prior to the Federation, or whatever it was called, when Canada became one country.
