Considering the lot most likely belonged to a single collector, I reckon the possiblity of a fake or even a few fakes being in the group to be average to high... afterall, how often is it said that we probably all have questionable coins in our own collection. I'm actually a little skeptical, if not outright suspicious of a few myself as it is and as a matter of course will be running through the fake databases to check on all the coins. Which is the one that stood out to you as being a possible fake?
This wasn't one that struck me as off, but I could be wrong and haven't had the chance to check the fake databases yet.
Group Lot?!?! This looks like you went into a dealers home, took a quick peak at his collection and said "I will take one of everything please". If this group lot was an ice cream cone it would have a scoop of every flavour. I hope you keep this thread alive with pictures of all of them as you work your way through them because I, for one, would really enjoy seeing pictures of each individual.
Thanks, Whiz. It's been established that what I actually did was go to the home of a 'one per' collector, hold him up at bazooka-point, and still fail to make away with all his goodies. Ah well.
Here you go... I'd love to know if it's a reverse die match with your coin and see a picture of your example too!
Well Z, I take you plan to sell these once you have them all identified and attributed? If so, how about letting us know in advance so we can take a shot at them?
Excellent lot. This could very well be the bulk of someones lifetime collection. There seems to be quite a few exceptional coins in the lot. I like the formula you used to calculate your max bid. Looks like you got your work cut out for you. I think the penny is nice.
