LOL that Japanese coin is such a failure. At least what he could do check the obverse side and the reverse side about the denomination factor. There is no bloody excuse that he doesn't know about it - afterall he's Chinese.

But speaking about that, I am quite sure he was the very person who sells counterfeited dies which sold easily for hundreds of dollars, and in a few cases, if I remember right, a CRACKED die reverse (i.e. the denomination side) of a Japanese trade dollar sold over 500 dollars. Most definately absurd and by the evidence that it is cracked of course it must have been used in counterfeiting coins.

Here is something I would suggest:

Import a massive lot of such counterfeit coins and sell them as it is but at no ridicious scam cost or reproduce them at a reasonable price.

Well I know that's a bloody contrivesal idea, but what I am trying to get across is that the only way to spread such message across is to educate the people about such coins. Chances are that because no one has seen it before even though it might be an obvious counterfeit will only get people interested, thinking that because it's not seen often, it has to be rare AND expensive. Hence you get people paying ridicious prices and the only people who are happy over are the scammers with their pockets full.

One should understand that such activities should be considered illegal and be condemned but do give this a thought - afterall who are the ones who are paying for such coins? It doesn't matter if it's seller's full intention to rip people off, but also of the fact that because there is demand, such activities will continue. And this is similar to many such activities worldwide, such as mp3 downloads, medicines, softwares etc. Why do these occur? That's because the original products are WAY too expensive and people can't bother or rather cannot afford to pay for such full price. And as for a fact that because quite a fair bit of such products cannot be made any cheaper, there will be crook means of ways to try to get things as cheap as possible. So can this be applied to coins? Of course, rare coins prices will never decrease to a point where anyone could afford so the only option that anyone could afford is a cheap copy.

Here is one site that offers reproduction coins: http://koinpro.tripod.com.

Speaking of which, I do admit that I have counterfeit coins.
