I just bought a roll of 30 Ike dollars and there were only 2 that had a problem. But the rest are good. Anyway, I want to know what the best way to tell which ones are silver. Can I tell from the rims?
Yeah, I did, didn't help. Is there a way to tell, for example, a 1973S copper-nickel clad coin from the 1973S silver clad? Look that up in your red book!
Based upon a quick internet search, it appears the 40% silver coin is 2g heavier than the clad proof. 24.59g vs. 22.68g But I could be wrong.
Put a silver coin and a clad coin under a white Kleenex tissue. You can easily tell which one is silver. I posted my complete set a few months ago but will do do again if you want me to.
Look at the edge. Clad has copper color; 40% silver has silver color...also all 40% silver has an S mint mark but not all s mint marks are on 40% silver coins...
