My heart is broken ... don't understand why anyone would steal a collection

I would never tell someone how to raise or discipline or talk to their kids. You know your situation and your daughter and wife better than any of us. But consider this....

Your daughter (age ?) was willing to steal from you, her father. If she was willing to stab you in the back, do you think she would say NO to stealing from work or a friend or a stranger...something that might lead to criminal prosecution ?

What did she use the money for ? If she needed the $$$ immediately for a life-saving operation for herself or your grandkid, that is certainly extenuating circumstances (if not something she should have alerted you and your wife to). OTOH...if it was for drugs, nights out with the guys/gals, gambling jaunts or mini-vacations.....well....'nuff said.

Like I said, I don't know how many kids you have, your relationship with them, or anything else regarding you and your wife, Harold....but this was not a case of her helping herself to some loose change on your countertop or in the laundry room. It's a serious breach of trust -- not to mention material theft -- and I can't believe it's not something she would hesistate to repeat.

It is not going to be a 1-time thing, that's almost a certainty.

Personally, I’d rather have a thief in the house than a liar. You can lock your valuables up, but there’s no defense against a liar…

raising kids can be a tricky thing and installing proper morals and values
at time can be a difficult proposition, especially with peer pressure to do things
like shop lift do drugs etc, remember there friends spent allot more time around
them then we do, so you always have to keep one eye out.

Need as in a habit is never ending.
I would hope that my kiddos always know that I will provide for them
with a roof]and food. My kids have always had to buy their own things, I hope they see it the same way.

Thats why people are now a days instead of leaving money to there kids there giving
away to charity, and yes the reasons are obvious...
