Awesome coins everyone. I colelct and have inherited a very large amount of German coins. It's nice to see other people have interest in them! Here are a few of my favorites:
Well, sice we are all showing our german coins, here are some of mine. As far as German coin are concerned, I tend to focus on the state coinage of the 19th century, specially of the napoleonic era. Lots of history there and some beautiful coins. Here are some thalers and double talers of Nassau, Hessen, Prussia, Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, Sachsen-Altenburg and Bavaria. Bavaria so-called Geschichtstaler commemorating the departure of King Otto from Bavaria to assume the greek throne. Also, a double thaler of Baden.
These are double-thalers (Doppeltaler or 3 1/2 Gulden) from the states of Sachsen-Altenburg and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Both fairly scarce issues of the aforementioned states. Very large coins in size!
Thanks guys. Yes gbroke, I have collected german coins for a long time. The big double-talers are interesting, but most fun and sometimes more scarce are the minor coinage (1, 3 and 6 Kreuzer, Groschen, Hellers) of the smaller states. Here is a Konventionstaler of the duchy of Nassau, struck during the napoleonic wars. Also, a double thaler from the state of Hessen.
