I'm in my 4th year as a full time dealer and I have this type of problem about every 6 months. I use the post office sparingly and when I do use it, the value must be under $10k via USPS Priority mail. The $10k per package limit is a stipulation set forth by my private shipping insurance. My average value per USPS shipment is probably $5-$6k. 95% of all of my business is done via telephone and shipping service.

Here is my story, last month I sold a guy 200 Morgan Dollars and shipped them USPS priority signature confirmation from my place of business in Los Angeles to a client of mine in Hollywood, CA. I checked the tracking and it said notice left and it remained this way for several days. I called my client to let him know that he needed to go to the post office and pick up his package. When he answered he said he was in Las Vegas and would pick it up the following week. He decided to head to Vegas on a whim. When he arrived home a week later, the USPS Priority Mail medium flat rate box was just sitting on his porch. It was sitting there unattended for about 10 days. It seems that the USPS driver had scanned it as notice left knowing full well that they had just left it on the porch.

The guys in the post office here in LA are terrible. My private shipping insurance covered it and thats the only product that I've ever lost.

The list goes on and on...
