EB any chance of a better scan of the coins? Dumanyu I like that :smile dont know much about the Indian States although I do have some coins, for the most part they are a mystery to me LOL
most of them were even in 1919 so its really difficult to get a genuine copy. they were withdrawn due to this reason. i had to let a beautiful restrike go coz the price was getting close to 175+
yeah, are all the coins in the photo fake? I have stopped buying anything on ebay now :headbang: worried about fakes - not sure how to tell
I am sorry to hear that you didn't get the coin you wanted. I think 1920 is a tougher date then 1919 8 annas. Here are few I collected in last few years... 1919 restrike -> and a 1920 restrike -> The scans are not as good as the coins itself and I can bet that each one of these will come back as at least PF64 from leading grading companies. Regards, Ballabh Garg
And few business strike 8 annas 1919 Bombay Mint -> 1919 Calcutta Mint -> 1920 Bombay Mint -> Regards, Ballabh Garg
Ah, I can see it now. Looking at the coins above. I think I will need a few reference books to try and spot these mistakes.
Just a point of interest. Another group of coin collectors appear to suggest the coin is not a fake. Suggesting that the damage to the coin is perhaps a result of cleaning. Any thoughts? I will try and get some good scans of it soon.
if it is cleaned then it might as well be fake. Just my opinion but i will go with ballabh it doesnt look above board better pictures might help
It's always good to hear all given suggestions... And maybe the person who minted the coin wasn't very familiar with English and didn't knew that George ends with "e" and emperor doesn't start with 'M". No matter how harshly a coin is cleaned, the two alphabets can't disappear from a coin. Regards, Ballabh Garg
yes, that makes sense, perhaps better scans may show these letters in some form once I get the coins in my possession I will try and get better pictures for your analysis Ballabh Thanks very much for looking at them, Ally
