More detail on lower headress feathers, particularly the bottom one. More detail on eagle's shoulder and breast. Fewer marks all around. I'm sure you do ! Beyond doubt one of the most beautiful designs ever. I would urge caution cracking this one out. I've seen some body-bag as cleaned from the same TPG who slabbed it in the first place ! Seems crazy, and maybe a bit unfair... after all, if they passed it the first time, why bag it the second time ? Perhaps standards or detection techniques have improved. Dunno. I'm not saying this one looks cleaned; it looks nice.
900fine - I want to update this post and to compliment you. You hit the nail on the head! I just returned from the Central States show and showed the coin to David Lange of NGC. I asked him his opinion of its chances for a resubmit upgrade. He said he felt the coin might have been lightly wiped and that the marks on the coin were problematic. He stated that he felt the coin might not slab at its present MS60 today! So, after that stunning and helpful news, I trolled the bourse for a buyer. I did find a buyer (after a few outright rejections and ridiculous low ball offers) and ended up taking a small loss from my original price. I then found a PCGS MS61 1909-D (don't care about the high mintage) that had excellent feather detail and much fewer bag marks. I think I can relax now! To all that replied to my thread, I certainly know it is tough to judge coins from pictures, but I am glad to have gotten your opinions. While I lost some money on this one, it was a good education! Education isn't always free, eh?
