Nice denarius with a good portrait and interesting reverse type. Is that a swan or goose to the left of the emperor? John
Cool capture! I think it's a peacock too. My first silver was actually two at the same time: These two coins really lit a fire and passion for ancients.
Trajan! A great start to a collection of denarii! Important historical figure, too, of course. My favorite Trajan: Trajan, AD 98-117 Roman AR denarius; 2.95 gm, 20 mm Rome, AD 114-117 Obv: IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC, laureate and draped bust, right Rev: P M TR P COS VI P P S P Q R, Mars walking right with spear and trophy Refs: RIC 337; BMCRE 536; Cohen 270; RCV --; Woytek 520v; Strack 230; BN 819.
Cool OP coin @Makanudo. As others have already pointed out, the reverse actually shows a tiny camel next to Arabia, who is holding a giant cinnamon stick in her hands. The type commemorates the annexation of Nabataea. I posted a short article about my piece a few months ago: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/trajan-brings-us-cinnamon.300185/
Age is catching up or just plain tired. I've seen this coin before, I just can't put my finger to where?
