I like that Japanese Yen, LM. I bet you had to give at least a buck and a half for it.

Ken Dorney Yea, I'm Cool That Way...

China has their "e-Packet" service which provides a government subsidized low cost shipping program to encourage business. But its a crap shoot, one never knows how long it will actually take. I've received packages in as little as one week and as long as three months.

With China, it's usually 1-3 weeks in my experience. Never had one take months, as I recall. But yeah, I can see how that would be a possibility. I suspect such delays are possible with any international shipment.

(Or, for that matter, any domestic one...)

Wise order. We're enjoying the story, as well. Cheers.

Close. Haggled with the seller via a round of Best Offer and counteroffers. Pulled the trigger at $142.65 delivered. Seeing it in hand now, I have no regrets.

Neither would I if I had the extra jack. I like the fact that it's slabbed, that's somewhat reassuring.
I guess I would be termed a "bottom feeder" since I like to buy the best item I can, at the lowest price I can get it for.
2 weeks ago I bought a "Fatman" dollar from a well known (to me) eBay seller. It was under weight according to his scale. He had a pic posted. It weighed 23.6 grams. We conversed. He assured me it was silver and tested with a gun. I bought it and when I had it tested, also with a gun, it was .999 fine silver, which is also wrong for a "Fatman" .
But I'm happy because I only paid $14.50 for the coin.

Today I had 4 recent buys tested with the gun. The 2 5 Pesetas tested fine, but of 2 French Indo China Piasters I had tested, one was fine and the other was only .250 silver. It's going back. I've already sent him an email.

It's really hard to tell the good one from the bad one by the way they look.

Yeah, I made sure the cert page checked out on this one, since it was a Chinese transaction. But of course there are plenty of reputable Chinese sellers. PCGS even has a branch in China.

(Interestingly, this Japanese yen was submitted in the US, though. It has a US-style TrueView image. The certification images from the branches in Paris and China are full-slab photos instead.)

Your post reminds me that I checked out a slabbed Fatman a week or so ago and the cert photo was completely different than the coin for sale in that slab.
    The differences were sooooo obvious.
