The nomenclature under denomination is noted as S$1 So I guess it stands for Silver.

All in all, this has been a very pleasant experience. It is nice that you can track the progress of your submission at each step. Each step has detailed explanations.

This looks like the last note to the submission that I will get.

Okay for the weird stuff 1894 Morgan. - Handed down. I have no idea of what was repaired, I was told that the graders do not keep their notes. I would have figured that the harsh cleaning was far more distracting - Guess not.

Original pic before the submission if anyone can find the repair - let me know. thanks!

1914d Body Bagged due to lacquer. Another problem hand-me down. Funny and ironic now that I have it back. I found a thread about removing lacquer and noticed the white lines around the bust in the photos and it all came together on why my coin just didn't "feel right"

When I was photographing the coin I couldn't get it show the darker contrast outlining the bust that normally occurs with my set up. The outline was white! I now know that that white outline is puddling of what ever was used to seal the coin.

If there happens to be more than one reason for certifying a coin, I guess NGC notes the one they think is more serious in nature. As for the repair, what is that grayish splotch on Liberty's jaw? It looks like someone may have tried to fill in a really bad gouge to hide it.

Wat to go on the 21-S!

uh ok the sandpaper cleaning is far more obvious IMO - but hey! what do I know? :)

Here is a close of of her jaw. It looks to me like there was a huge gouge at one time that formed hang nails and it was fold over back in to the gouge.

Very cool thread Eye! Thanks for sharing and congrats on your coins. Really, the details grade on the 3-leg was fine, at least it was genuine!
