Ive waited a long time for this and I have finally got my hands on one. Indo greek, Philoxenos Tetradrachm, ~8g 100-95BC Its a bit roughly cleaned and a chunk is missing. But its still lovely. This reminds me of an old thread on the forum, something along the lines of how low one would go in terms of coin quality haha. Partial coins is a new game in that field.
I don’t think it is of poor quality, Muhammad! I think it’s quite nice! I don’t have one yet. It’s on my “Oneofthesedays” list
AWESOME DUDE, @Muhammad Niazi ! Nice capture! It is ALL history to me... I don't worry about how pretty a coin is! Ya need to snare an ALEXANDER III of Makedon sometime. He is the one who got all these Indo-Greek kingdoms going. Here are a couple of my INDO-GREEKS: Indo-Greek Baktria Menander I Soter BC 155-130 AR Tet 26mm 9.6g Diad - Athena Alkidemos tbolt Gorgon shield SNG ANS 764-767 This guy was speculated that sent an army / led the army to fight on the side of Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium... INDO-GREEK KINGDOM Zoilos II Circa 50-40 BCE AR drachm 17mm 2.3g Athena Alkidemos l monograms Antony Actium SNG ANS 1654-1658 I got this coin because the SCYTHIANS were BAD-AS dudes from the Steppes... India Indo-Scythian King Azes I 57-30BCE AR Drachm
Ive got an alexander! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/is-this-alexander-drachm-legiti.344722/ here it is. Your coins are lovely! its interesting how the zoilus coins art style is cruder than the likes of menander and everyone else I also got this lovely antimachos drachm. the obverse is near perfect. The horsy has seen better days Antimachos II, drachm, 160-155BC
Nicefind!....This guy can be expensive....I seem to remember reading somewhere that the reverse says something like the undefeatable?
Yea, the greek says philoxenos the invincible and the kharoshti says undefeatable. Must have been a tough guy.
