My early days were in Riverside, so I remember earthquakes well. Also, 'duck and cover' drills for nuclear war and even 'smog alerts' where we couldnt go outside for recess at school due to the pollution. But here in the north state earthquakes are small and infrequent. Besides, my bookshelves are screwed to the wall (not that this would help if there were a big quake).
