I got about half way through that video before I'd had enough. That accent combined with his hair style/suit gave me the creeps, I had the weird impression that he was trying to rip me off. Oh wait...he was!!!
Simple word, shyster, simple as that. Another one who gives off the same vibe but I am not gonna name names. I just stay away from both.
Yup, he perfectly pulls off the creepy door-to-door salesman look... For those of us that bought from him, just think, he knows where we live! If I suddenly stop posting for good, you'll know what happened!
I actually bought two coins from him recently. They were listed at $795 and $650, respectively - several orders of magnitude more than they are worth. So I made him an offer of $125 and $75, which he accepted. That was right at the top of what I was willing to pay, and if they weren't rare pieces that don't come up for sale more than every twenty or thirty years I would not have bothered. All in all, the experience wasn't too bad. This guy isn't much of a numismatist, but he's quite the marketer.
I had bought a coin on amazon a long long time ago, then the same coin, same pic was listed by this seller. Never got the coin, and was refunded by amazon. Still, I've had worse experiences with more popular sellers.
Well I said I'd report back. So he's asking $270 for this Titus: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230840522890?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT I low=balled him for $90 which given the surfaces and condition of the coin I thought to be fair. He turned down my offer, no counter offer. Considering going back at $120. what say ye?
I believe the coin should remain with its current owner. He likes it at least twice as well as I do. For $90, I'd want either better surfaces or the important legends (the left side that says it is Titus).
I made a low ball offer on a Nero Sestertius Janus Temple that had been cut in half mainly because at the moment I cannot afford both halves . He turned down my offer as well with no counter offer. Truth be told, I truly low-balled at 10% his asking price. He is asking $401.99 and I offered $42. Oh well, I never expected him to agree. Here is the coin in question:
oh wow Bing. I actually put on offer on the same coin a couple of hours ago. Every now and then I put an offer in with him for funsies and maybe I will get lucky. I haven't heard back yet.
