Probably won't help. He states it's a credit union, not a bank. So it may be that the "headquarters" was the same building he was in. My first question would be, how much money is actually in the account in question? He never specifies who "they" were. The way he describes the "lady's" reaction, it sounds like she was condescending to a small-time token account holder who dumps (more than the account is worth) and runs, rather than makes the account active by depositing said coins into that account.

Keep in mind the original concept behind a credit union was to provide communal services for it's members (aka Account Holders) by accepting savings (and paying a dividend) and loaning money at reduced fees (interest). Over the years many credit union have expanded to provide other services, such as checking and debit cards, to those members. Most credit unions do not do business with non-members (ie- no account).

Keep in mind that the OP so much as says he did what he did because they limited him to what he could order, so to spite them he simply started only to dump. Think the staff at this credit union doesn't see that? Think that if the account he threatened to close contained significant money, the "lady's" reaction may have been different? There's more here than the OP is letting on.
