Yes, this is all new to me. Still if enough people use these terms, I do like to find out what they mean or at least what they are trying to convey. The "puffy" term actually makes more sense to me now that the seller explained it, it's really just an optical 3D effect from the cameo.
Puffy cheek is sometimes used. Liquid mercury is a sales term from this seller. He loves it and it is his term.
Just got my 1881-S MS64 DMPL the mail today. The coin looks GREAT! A really nice deep cameo with very reflective fields. I tried to shoot some photos showing the mirror. Here is one reflecting off my Morgan Guidebook (a well chosen reflection!) I am still trying to get the lighting right. DMPL's do pose some photographic issues as it's hard to keep the camera from reflecting in the coin. And I really should get a better camera than an iPhone (hand held). This was taken in indirect (difuse) sunlight. Thanks again for all the good advice on how to select a DMPL Morgan merccrazy and blu62vette.
It is a lot of fun to spin through the whole set. Of the new ones, I like the 1890-O. That is a sweet looking coin and has to be undergraded. Keep at it -- I'm sure you have the tough ones left. As many coin shows as you attend, you ought to bump into them all eventually...
I can't edit the title but now I am at about 85% complete on the DMPL w/ varieties set, haven't done an update for a while so here you go. Here are several of the new coins:
I'm frickin' jealous. Yeah, that last 15% is gonna be killer. Is there any dates that PL/DMPL's aren't known for?
