Those are only worth face value given their circulated condition. There are rare and desirable 2013 $1 stars but these two are common. The key in the series are J-* notes, which saw a printing of only 250,000 for the entire district.

Star notes are used to replace a damaged note of the serial number. Isn't that fascinating to come across one? Hang on to it to teach other people about what they are. Encourage them to look at their money more closely and learn to appreciate it.

It may not be worth much, but who ever finds star notes in circulation? Not I.

I'd say perhaps you're not looking hard enough? This is what I've found so far this year alone for $1 notes:

    103 Stars

    2001 C-*
    2003 G-*
    2003A K-*
    2006 G-*, L-*x3
    2009 B-*, F-*x3, G-*, J-*
    2013 A-*x2, B-*x22, E-*, F-*x6, G-*x5, H-*x13, J-*x2, K-*x24, L-*x15

Last year from a bank I was given a complete and uncirculated 100 note strap of 2013 H-* notes, which I ended up sending to a fellow collector.

What is a $1 2013 star note worth if its from a run of 250k?
